Injury Recovery Management
Background: A cycling team’s coaches sought the status and performance breakdown of each of cyclist during training camp.
MuscleSound® Intervention: Testing was performed on each athlete both pre and post training sessions each week. A number of athletes had performed, depleted, and recovered properly throughout the camp. However, a few athletes elicited caution and concern over the final phase of training camp.
Result: The athletes that tested well during all phases of training were athletes to benchmark for training and recovery. The athletes that elicited caution were in extreme high danger to a soft tissue injury and needed to immediately alter training. As you can see in the graph below, MuscleSound® also discovered variances in movement patterns; specifically, muscle fuel in the left leg was depleted much more than the right, as depicted by the purple lines. The biomechanics and positioning of each athlete on the bike needed an examination to mitigate future soft tissue injury.
